Apprenticeship Opportunities

The Mayor's Office of Employment Development is connecting jobseekers with paid apprenticeship opportunities all over Baltimore City. Apprenticeships are available in industries including healthcare, plumbing, HVAC, construction, technology, transportation, telecommunications and more!

Apprenticeships help jobseekers build skills as they receive personalized instruction from experts in the field while being paid.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship, jobseekers must be over 18 and live in Baltimore City. Pre-apprenticeship support is available, including resume building, skills assessments, and more.

Training Experience

Apprentices will be trained via:

  • At least 2,000 hours per year of on-the-job training
  • Training at the worksite under the direction of highly skilled industry experts
  • At least 144 hours of related instruction per year of the apprenticeship

Applications are now paused as we focus on preparing for fall 2024 start dates. If you've already applied, stay tuned as we'll be reaching out to get you ready for the next steps. Don't worry – we'll keep you updated as more apprenticeship slots become available. Typically, apprenticeships are applied for in the beginning of the year, prepared for over the summer, and started in the fall. In the meantime, we have plenty of other opportunities available, including jobs, free training, and GED classes!
