FUTURES has been proven successful with City students for more than 20 years. FUTURES students have less than a five percent dropout rate, and more than 87% of program participants secure jobs or attend college immediately after graduation. FUTURES provides the intensive advocacy of a caring adult, tutoring, incentives, cultural enrichment and work experience, all of which are motivators for success. FUTURES is an optional program currently serving over 700 students at the following seven schools:
FUTURES is able to achieve extraordinary results by proactively working with parents to ensure students stay in school. Advocates monitor lateness on a daily basis by visiting classrooms and taking attendance. FUTURES advocates make phone calls and home visits, as needed. Additionally, students with attendance problems participate in workshops held by advocates and mental health clinicians. Finally, there are perfect attendance incentives such as pizza or submarine parties based on students’ individual incentive plans. For more information about FUTURES, call 410-396-6155. |
