YouthWorks
applauds its corporate and community-based partners for endorsing
the YouthWorks 2002 summer jobs program. This year’s program
has been the most successful to date by providing employment opportunities
to 5,500 Baltimore City youth.
On Tuesday, September 24, 2002, the Mayor’s Office of Employment
Development and Baltimore Workforce Investment Board Youth Council
will honor donors and employers for their contributions. Invited
guests include congressional, state and city officials, and the
business community.
Mr. James Hamlin, Community Relations and Training and Development
Manager for United Parcel Service (UPS), will discuss the impact
of the YouthWorks 2002 Campaign with program participants and invited
guests.
Background: YouthWorks is Mayor O’Malley’s summer jobs
program. Each year, the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development
takes a leading role in providing positive, work-based learning
experiences for Baltimore’s youth. Participants from all of
Baltimore’s communities take part in this enriching, employment
experience that lays a foundation for future career success. With
the assistance of local business and community partners, YouthWorks
gives all of Baltimore an opportunity to come
