Career Academy Seeking New Students
for GED, Diploma Programs

Baltimore, MD – Out-of-school youth, ages 16 to 21, can register to earn GEDs, high school diplomas and occupational skills training at the Career Academy at Harbor City High School, 101 W. 24th Street. Through a new partnership with the Baltimore City Public School System and the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, the Career Academy at Harbor City High School offers youth in Baltimore an expanded menu of learning options.

“Our services are available, free of charge, to all city youth who left high school before earning their diplomas,” said Callie Greene, the Career Academy’s program coordinator. “We are looking for youth who can read and do math at least on the seventh grade level and who are motivated to complete their education, go to college and build careers. Youth who are interested in the program will be tested to determine if they are eligible to participate.”

While the program operates and accepts applicants year-round, Academy leaders encourage youth to register now to be scheduled for appointments on the upcoming June 15 testing date.
