Summer Jobs Launch Careers is the theme for the YouthWorks 2010 program that will provide opportunities for young people to learn about careers in the region’s high-growth industries and to prepare for 21st century jobs through six-week summer jobs that will begin on June 21 and continue through July 30. YouthWorks provides well-prepared, multi-skilled, and dependable high school and college students who are eager to work. While the program benefits youth by allowing them to explore careers and better understand the value of education, it also enriches businesses by giving them access to a talented and energetic labor pool of motivated workers.

The majority of the placements will be made for those 14 to 21 years of age; however, a small number of 22 to 24-year-olds may register to become Team Leaders to help assist with the operation of the YouthWorks Green Jobs Corps – an initiative conducted in coordination with the Department of Recreation and Parks.

More information can be obtained, including how to become a YouthWorks worksite, by calling 410.396.JOBS (5627) or visiting www.oedworks.com.
